Arlie Conner: Music

Old Joe

(Arlie Conner)
Old Joe

A devil knocked the power out
but that didn't stop Old Joe
He couldn't let the audience down
they'd come to see a show

With no juice for his guitar
no power for his mic
He searched his soul for something more,
something he hoped they'd like

Chorus:
Hey Old Joe
Do you still know how to rock
Hey Old Joe
Show us what you've got

His drummer started in on a groove
Joe belted out some songs
Heart felt gospel, down home blues
his roots helped him along

Sweatin’ and swayin’ for hours that night
the well was nearly dry
His life, his art, all let loose
Joe lit up like a firefly

The crowd got their moneys worth
they’d talk about this for years
Old Joe, just his voice and drums
kickin' it into high gear

The power finally came back on
and Joe started up the band
The devil admitted his defeat
cuz Joe got the upper hand
